Very cool overnight.

After looking at the map and other resources, we decided to go back to the ferry at Gernsheim to catch the ferry to the other side of the Rhine River, as it appeared to be much more interesting.

A beautiful sunny morning with cool temperatures made our morning ride very comfortable. We rode along the dykes and countryside. We stopped in Oppenheim for coffee and pastries (the best so far!). Then we continued on our route through Neirstien and past beautiful vineyards.

We arrived at our campground in Mainz about 1:30 pm. The reception was closed until 3 pm so we found a nice restaurant that was open and had a beer and snack.

Then, back to the campground and checked in. At check in, we met a couple who chatted with us. Judy had a hunch that she knew them from somewhere. It turns out that we had met them on our trip to Italy in 2022! What a coincidence! We chatted with them for most of the evening. We exchanged addresses and invited each other to our respective homes anytime. It turns out that they have relatives in Kanata. Another coincidence ! We enjoyed visiting with them.
