We rode along the waterfront of Santa Maria di Leuca, the most southern point of Italy, as we departed for another day of riding.

Another beautiful sunny day!!

We passed through some small villages on quiet country roads and stopped to see some historic sites including a monument founded in the 9th century as a mausoleum.

Also, right along the roadside, we picked walnuts, pomegranates, figs and grapes to complement our lunch later on.

We headed back to the coast where we stopped at a beach for a swim and a picnic. Crystal clear turquoise water and white sand!

We carried on a bit further including a couple more hills (harder to climb after lunch!) and arrived at our tasting spot for the day. We were given a traditional hard bread, soaked in water and topped with sundried tomatoes and other pickled vegetables. Tasty!

We arrived at our accommodation, a old farm turned into a B&B, for the night about 5:30pm. The chef prepared an amazing private dinner for the 6 of us. As we ate the 5 course meal, she explained what we were eating and how she prepared it. It was a really nice evening!!

All of us with our Chef, Patrice
