Today, we decided to head into Taranto but not on our bikes. The roads are too busy based on yesterday's experience. So we decided to take the bus. We managed to figure out what bus to take and at what time with a little help from our campground host. Prior to this, Judy booked a tuk tuk tour of Taranto, mostly because our legs were too tired to even think about doing a walking tour!!

We arrived in town with plenty of time to grab a coffee before boarding our tuk tuk. The tour was about 45 minutes and included the highlights of the old town. Like many Italian cities, Taranto certainly has its interesting history, founded by the Spartans in the 8th century BC . The old town is actually on an island, connected by a swing bridge, to the new town. The Aragonese castle has a significant presence on the seaside.

Once our tuk tuk tour was over, we had a bite to eat and headed back to our campsite.
