Today was our second day of overcast skies since we started biking , a nice break from the hot sun, but it was very humid.

We travelled along the Ionian Sea coast with a mix of rugged beauty and white sandy beaches. The villages we passed through are tourist towns as there are many restaurants, bars and hotels. However, the tourist season must be over here because many of the establishments were shut down, there were only a few people on the beaches and the traffic was minimal. Thankfully this part of our trip today was relatively flat.

It seemed that every time we went around another curve in the road, there was another scenic view of the coastline.

We arrived at Campomarino about noon and stopped for a coffee and brioche before heading inland to Manduria, a small town of 32,000. After a couple of steep hills mixed with the humidity, we were glad to finally arrive in the town centre of Manduria. We found a lovely B&B only a short walk away and settled in for a 3 day stay to look around the area. Campgrounds are few and far between in this area.

Pulsano. People snorkeling in the water.
