We packed up and left early foregoing breakfast and thought we would just stop for something later.

We had to go back through the country roads that we rode on yesterday to get on the proper route. This was certainly not a hardship!!.... we had views of the beautiful olive groves again and the sea in the distance. Once we were on the secondary road, right next to the highway, leading to Brindisi, we had the wind at our backs and we will able to proceed at a good clip. We rode into Villanova again and found a place to have coffee and a brioche.

As we came down a small hill we came face to face with a herd of goats!! The goat herder was leading them from the other side of the highway, along an underpass and, despite stopped cars, he seemed to be very calm and collected. His dog was making sure the goats at the rear did not go astray. What a funny scene to watch!

As we got closer to Brindisi, the views of the sea were spectacular.

We arrived at our little apartment about 3 pm, situated about 2.5 km from the city centre. Settled in and went for groceries since we have a kitchen to take advantage of, followed by dinner and bed!
