A nice sunny day. We were able to enjoy the views of Basel early that morning. Bike path took us right beside the Rhine. Very pretty expecially the views on the Swiss side. On the German side we were on the outskirts of town and for some distances along the railway tracks.

The Rhine is a very different river from the Loire. It is much deeper and looks like a fast flowing river. In the Basel area it is very much a working river. Lots of barges and industries on the water front with loading docks. However , about 10 kms out of Basel it became a recreational river. Lots of people floating along enjoying the sun.

We crossed over the German/ Swiss border a couple of times during the day. Some beautiful towns along the way.

We had a long day and did not finish till around 5pm. We ate supper in the campsite restaurant. The campsites for bikers/cyclists are interesting. We are put in the meadow and it is generally first come first serve and privacy is not of concern to anyone. This site was a bit different. They had the meadow set up in a grid pattern with sites about 12x12. Very organized. This was also the first time we had to pay for hot water in the showers. Having phone/internet issues again.

Too bed early .
