We took advantage of the campsite's "petit dejeuner" this morning before we departed; fresh OJ, coffee, croissant and baquette from the village bakery- very good. We've noticed that it is a common occurance at campgrounds that the baker shows up every morning to sell their baked goods (mostly baquettes). Also, local producers bring their goods (wine and local food) to the campgrounds to taste and sell.

Overcast and nice temperature. Nice ride this morning on paved country roads winding through small villages. Beautiful flowers and farmland and always with the Loire river in sight.

Stopped at the Chateau D'Usse, the chateau that inspired Charles Perrault's children's tale Sleeping Beauty. We did the whole audio tour of the castle, chapel and the tower dedicated to the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale which, of course, was also a Disney movie. Originally a medieval defensive castle, it was transformed in the 17th century into a magnificent stately home. It is still a private residence and home to the Duke de Blacas. Quite a few families with young children visiting.

Back on the bikes after about 1.5 hours of touring the castle, along the River bank, a gentle downward slope and a tailwind. A nice change from previous days.

We stopped again just down the road at Château Villandry but didn't take the time to go in. But another magnificent piece of architecture and very elaborate gardens. We arrived at our campsite around 2:45pm, walked into Savonnieres and had a nice relaxing evening over a bottle of local red.

Met a nice couple from Denver, Colorado who are doing the same route as us but on a tandem bike.

Trouble with WiFi tonight so will load pictures when it is better.
