After a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, we decided to take advantage of the hotel's hospitality and left our gear in an unused dining room while we went ti explore Tuttlingen some more. After buying some supplies, we went back to the hotel to change and hit the road.

Tuttlingen is about 75 kms from the source of the Danube. It is a bit hard to believe that this little creek will at some point turn in one of the major waterways of Europe. We are camping about 20 feet away from the river tonight, surrounded by the Black Forest.

The bike path out of Tuttlingen descended for a long time. I started to wonder when the uphill was going to begin. The path took us through many twists and turns, cutting through the Donautal gorge through forested limestone cliffs and hills of the Swabische Alb. Beautiful scenery and views at every turn.

About an hour before the end of the day, John hit a pretty big bump on one of the forest roads and felt that somthing was wrong with his bike. It turned out the rim gave away and several spokes popped thru the rim. We will have to figure out how to get back to a larger town tomorrow and buy a new rim, ( "all part of the fun"; not John's exact words).
