Ahhh Budapest!! What a lovely city!!

We decided to explore this beautiful city by the Hop On Hop Off bus. We have a 72 hour ticket so hoping we will have enough time to see it all!!

We stayed on the Buda side of the river today, going up to the Castle and the Citadel districts. However, we started the day by visiting St Stephen's Basilica. Gorgeous! Lots of marble and gold gild.

Then we walked across the Chain Bridge, the first permanent bridge across this section of the Danube in Hungary. Once on the Buda side we hopped on the Budapest Castle bus which took us up to the Castle to explore this area. One of the most famous sites is the St Matthias church with the multi coloured rooftiles and the Fisherman's Bastion right behind the church. We could not visit the church because we did not have the proper attire. Fisherman's bastion is where many people come to pose for photos. Today seemed to be particularly busy (perhaps because it is a Saturday).

We hopped back on the bus which took us the rest of the 9.2 km ride around the castle district.

We switched over to the Pest side and visited the Jewish synagogue, the largest in Europe. However, we could not go in as it was closed and, again, we were not properly dressed anyway (no shorts for men and women). Nonetheless, we enjoyed seeing the beautiful architecture of the building.

Then we called it a day of touring and made our back to the campsite in time for happy hour at the campground😀

Looking forward to another day of exploring this city!!
