An overcast and cool morning. We left camp about 9 am. We had a nice bike path to ride on today. Lots of shade. Our first stop was to take pictures of the Rhienhotel Dressen which is where Hitler and British PM Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement in 1938, which promised, according to Chamberlain "peace in our time". Twelve months later, Britain was at war with Germany.
We continued on our way through the beautiful riverfront promenade of Bonn and then stopped for coffee at a ferry crossing near Hersel.
We had lunch at a park near Cologne and then arrived shortly thereafter in the city. It was extremely busy getting through Cologne as we learned that there was a beer festival happening for a couple of days on the riverfront promenade. We rode right past it and all the crowd to get to our apartment. We finally made it safely and arrived at our apartment about 3:30 pm. Our apartment was on the 3rd floor so we had to carry all our gear up, including our bikes, 4 levels.
We were ready to sit and catch our breath!
After venturing our for groceries we had a pretty chill night, relaxing.
