We decided to go to Leiden, which we were told was a beautiful city. First, however, we went south to Dordrecht, the oldest city in Holland, to check it out and have coffee. We rode past the windmills once again and went south along the Noord River. We took a waterbus over to Dordercht, looked around the old city, had coffee and another Dutch apple tart, and then went back north up the Noord River (another waterbus) towards Kinderdijk. One more ferry across the Lek river and then we were on our way to Leiden, another 45 km.

We went through a mix of farmland and small towns. About 5 km from our campground the skies opened and we got soaked. The good thing is that it stopped when we arrived so that we could set up camp with no rain. The campground had a small shelter for the campers which we used to cook and eat our supper. We met some other friendly campers and enjoyed conversation with them.

Today's ride was one of our longest ones of our trip but a good one.
