We were pretty wet after the night of rain. We packed everything up and rode about 15 km to our breakfast stop in the small town of Zijderveld. There was a town fair going on so a lot of people out. We found a place that sold coffee and homemade Dutch apple tart. It was delicious!

The riding today was very comfortable - nice temperature and sunny, on flat paved bike paths and small roads. This part of the world is so neat and tidy, and never a piece of garbage on the ground to be seen.

We stopped for lunch in Bleskensgraaf, another small town along our route.

We arrived at our camp near Kinderdijk (known for its old windmills) about 2 pm, a nice small family run campground beside a pasture.

We laid out all our gear to dry out which didn’t take long.

Mary and I rode into the closest town for groceries. We needed to buy enough for 2 days because all the stores are closed on Sundays.

We were informed that the old windmills at Kinderdijk was having an Illumination Week whereby the 19 remaining old mills would be lit up by spotlights and tonight was the last night for this unique spectacle. So once we had dinner, we got back on the bikes and rode about 6 km towards the old mills going the "'back way'', as was recommended to us. It was a partly paved and partly dirt path with water on either side. As we approached the windmills, we sat on a bench and waited for it to get a little darker. The crowds formed with many photographers with tripods looking for the perfect photo. It really was a special sight!

We rode back on the same path but very slowly as we only had our headlights to guide us. But, we made it back to camp safe and sound.
