Today, we had a shorter ride out into the countryside. We had nice country roads to ride on, mostly paved but some were dirt and stone. There is alot of stone here, stone fences, stone walls, stones scattered in the fields and stone houses!!

We had a scheduled tasting at a lovely local bakery in Forno Caroppo. We thought we were going to have a pastry or some bread to try but we were surprised when the host brought out a plateful of various vegetables (mostly eggplant and cooked in various ways - grilled, deep fried, stuffed, pickled), cheese and a basket of bread. They also served us a rose wine and then brought out homemade cookies.

We arrived in Otranto around 3 pm and we all had a dip in the sea before going back to our B&B.

We quickly got cleaned up and ready to go to town for dinner. We had some time to walk around the old town of Otranto and see it at night when it comes alive with with the old buildings lit up, the streets full of people wandering through the souvenir stores and at the restaurants and bars.
