Today was our first real overcast day which was fortunate since we had no real shady spots to pull over on our bike route.

As we were getting closer to the Gargano National Park, we had to decide whether we would go through the park or around it. The web photos of this park look absolutely stunning and so we decided that we couldn't miss seeing it. However, it is very hilly and our estimate to bike through the park was a 3 day trek with alot climbing.

An alternative was to rent a vehicle and driver to take us through the park. Well, we found a place that would provide a driver to take us directly to the other side of the Park, a one hour drive on the highway, but not through the Park. We decided to pursue this option and get to Manfredonia, which is a larger centre and has more options for car rentals or Park excursions.

For tonight, we are staying in a B&B in downtown Lesina and taking advantage of the availability of power to charge all our electronic devices and celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary at a nice restaurant!!

Our whole time in Lesina was wonderful! It all came about in a funny set of circumstances. It started with us asking the van driver for a recommendation for a B&B; he made a call to a friend and booked a room for us only 2 blocks away; we then asked the B&B owner for a recommendation for dinner after telling him that it was our anniversary; he called a friend who owns a restaurant and arranged a special dinner for us. Everything fell into place and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Lesina (small town connections work the same everywhere!).
