Another beautiful sunny day! We ventured out to explore more of the old city this morning. The mornings are bustling with store merchants, shoppers and tourists and then by 1 pm, it is like a ghost town. A few restaurants remain open but stores close up until later in the afternoon.

We visited the inside of a few churches including Church Saint Irene (the former patron saint of the city). The stone sculpture work is simply amazing! So much detail!

We returned to our B&B to rest before our friends arrive from Montreal later this afternoon.

Our friends, Mike, Wanda, Ralph and Elizabeth arrived safe and sound. We had a debriefing with the Salento Bici Tour staff and received all the information for the rest of the bike trip around the southern tip of Puglia. Then, we went out to dinner at a lovely restaurant in the old city.

St Biagio Gate, third gate to the old city. Built in 1774 - relatively young!!
