Another sunny day in Italy!
We had a beautiful breakfast on the balcony of our B&B overlooking the countryside. All packed up, we left for
another day of adventure with the destination of Alberobella.
The headwind was quite strong as left our B&B outside of Gioia del Colle so the first 12 km was a little challenging!
Once we reached Gioia del Colle, we were travelling with a backwind...much easier!! We were mostly on flat country roads
again today.
We arrived in Alberobella about 1:30 pm and sat in the main square to try to find a place to stay for a couple of nights (no
camping available). This is such a unique town filled with conical shaped, hobbit-like houses. The streets were bustling with
tourists.
We found a place about 4 km outside of the main part of town, a complete house with a large kitchen and a couple of bedrooms that
occupy the original trulli part of the house. The bonus is there a washing machine!! We spent the evening washing clothes
preparing our dinner and trying to find an English walking tour to go on tomorrow. It seems as though there are still plenty of
English speaking tourists because there are no tours available until much later in September.
We are looking forward to exploring this town tomorrow!!
