From our research for this trip, the Melk Abbey came up time and time again as a recommended site to visit. We'd now say that this recommendation is accurate! It is in a nice spot perched above the old town and the building is beautiful. We toured all that this site had to offer including a very interesting museum, a church and a library. Unfortunately, we could not take pictures inside and this was strictly enforced with their people watching in every section. Nonetheless, we got some shots from the outside. We arrived early when it opened which we were happy about, as there was alot of people when we left. We must have counted 20 tour buses in the parking lot when we left!!!

Then, we drove as much as we could along the Danube, enjoying the scenery. We stopped in Spitz, a little town in the Wachau region, known for its vineyards growing on the steep hills behind the town. The vineyards are terraced and in some areas seem to be growing right out of the rock walls. One of the vineyards is called the "thousand bucket hill" because in a good year it can produce 1000 buckets (56k litres) of wine. Impressive!

Then we made our way to Vienna. We found a campsite about a 15 walk from the Metro so it should be fairly easy to get to and from the city.
