We picked up our new "German bike" this morning, an Opel Insignia.

Whether by bike or car it is a challenge to find our way through any larger centre. What should have taken us 10 minutes, at most, to get back to the hotel to pick up our gear, took us 40 minutes to the find our way back! John has not driven a standard ( what the lady at the agency called a "normal car") in over 20 years. He seems to have trouble finding 1st gear, I' m sure he will figure it out, but I can' t wait to see how he deals with starting on a hill.

A nice car; and, we were able to get all our gear in. We were off. We decided to take the secondary, more scenic route than the highway. Lovely farmland between towns even though the day was quite overcast.

We pulled into Neuburg an der Donau, which seemed to be of interest because of the large 16th century palace and the world's oldest Protestant church. Once at the tourist office, we were told that all museums and such places are closed on Mondays! ...that is all over Europe. We didn't realize this! Oh well....we walked around a bit despite the now steady rainfall and then back to the car. At this point, we are reminding ourselves that we could be on bikes and soaking wet by now. A hot coffee and back on the road.

Not far down the road we made it to Ingolstadt, our destination for the night. Groceries, supper and waited out the end of the rainfall in the car!!
