First stop this morning was just across the river at Sully-sur-Loire. The Chateau is touted as one of the prettiest on the Loire. Indeed it is very pretty with a moat and a few turrets!!

Again, mostly flat paved road this morning on what appears to be dykes. The bike route took us off this to go around the nuclear power plant. So we were into rolling hills and nice farmland again. Once we were back on the dyke it was smooth flat riding again.

Stopped in Gien for a snack. Gien is dominated by 2 huge buildings. The castle of Anne de Beaujeu, built in the 15th century. She was the eldest daughter of Louis XI and ruled the country in 1483 when her father died. The other huge building is a church dedicated to Ste Jeanne d'Arc who visited on several occasions. Gien suffered severely from bombings in WWII but they rebuilt and the town seems charming.

We arrived in Briare not long after our stop in Gien. Found a campsite with a pool again! Nice to get cooled off in the pool. We explored the town centre which has a very pretty church called St Etienne. This church is covered with enamel mosaics, both inside and outside. Beautiful patterns and symbolism throughout. The whole town actually has mosaics scattered throughout.

Another great day in France!!!!
