An early start on a cool morning. Very little wind made the riding easy. Took an alternate route to the village of Saint-Dye-sur-Loire. There we met up with the main route. Had a quick break , time for a photo of the local chateau. Followed the main route and went by the first of the nuclear power plants we will see. This one was on an island in the middle of the river. Arrived at Beaugency around noon. The 23 arch bridge built in the 12 century originally had a pilgram's chapel halfway across. Had a chance to grab a couple of baguette sandwiches from the local boulangerie, then moved on for a couple more hours. On our approach to Orleans we noticed the housing started to look very much like suburbs. We went over the modern bridge and found the local municipal campsite. These sites in general have what you need to spend the night, washroom facilities and that is about it.
