A well deserved rest day! Slept in and then Judy did laundry while John cleaned the bikes. Walked into town. This is France's national holiday so we were expecting some extra activities or something special. The tourist office in Amboise told us that there was just a waterfront sampling of food at 7:30 pm and then fireworks at 11 pm. Not even alot of flags flying. Anyway, we walked around the city centre and like Tours, there are lots of restaurants, creperies, bistros and bars. Lots of tourists too!! We had a delicious salad and beer at one of the many establishments.

We found the spot where Leonardo de Vinci lived and died, a short walk from the town centre.

The Royal castle stands out so majestically. It was built in the 11th century. Right across from it is an old multi-arch bridge crossing the Loire.

Spent a quiet evening back at our campsite, meeting a family from Denmark and one from Germany.

We walked a short way from the campground to see the 20 min firework display- awesome!
