Left Rochefort fairly early, and started out towards Angers. Nice trip to the city, shaded most of the way along the river. Went into the downtown core of Angers. Great bike lanes to follow. Stopped at the castle in the middle of the city. Tried to take a selfie, we need lots of work on this skill, (see attached photo). Not long after, we got lost through a construction zone. Once you are off the route you are one your own. These cities were built so long ago there does not appear to be any organization. We tried to figure it out ourselfs, saw lots of interesting steets and homes but eventually gave up and asked for help. 15 minutes later we were back on track. From then on it was a beautiful ride into Gennes.

Struck up a conversation with the man next to us at the campsite. I was curious why the river levels appear so low and why nobody was swimmimg in the river. He said the water levels fluctuates considerably from spring to summer. Most of the beach type areas are underwater in the spring. Also there are some dam controlled areas for power generation. Because of the changing water levels the water flow is very dangerous, very turbulent. Some boaters and potential swim areas where the flow hits a natural lake type area. But it is in most cases advised to not go in for a swim.
