We decided to take advantage of the Hop On Hop Off tickets we purchased yesterday and set off for the city. The bus was quite enjoyable as the audio recording told us some of the history of the city and descriptions of what we were passing. We headed for Schonbrunn palace outside of the city core, the summer residence of the Imperial family that reigned for 650 years in this area. It is a UNESCO World heritage site and highly recommended according to what we had read.

Once we arrived the line ups were so long. We were told it would be a 180 minute wait. The staff recommended that we visit the sister museum in the city and come back later in the day.

Back on the Hop On Hop Off bus, we headed back to the city and went to the Habsburg palace, the official residence of the Imperial family. Here, we toured an interesting museum telling the life story of the Emperor's wife, Elizabeth.

Back to Schonbrunn palace later in the day and no line ups this time. We swiftly got through the palace and toured the beautiful gardens behind the palace as well.

At this point we were both pretty tired of walking, looking at trapestries, ornate dishes and furniture, etc.

We made our way back to our campsite and settled in for the night.
