We had the best "petit dejeuner" yet at the hotel. The hotel staff let us leave our bags in their back office and our bikes were tucked away in a shed across the street, leaving us to go exploring Besacon some more. We went to the city's Citadel (town fortifications), the Black Gate ( Roman gate to the city)and an old Roman theater.

We left late morning and enjoyed another pleasant ride along the river and canals. However, if the route strayed away from these we hit the hills pretty quickly. Then there is usually a big jump in elevation fairly quickly. There was a big climb into Clerval.

The campsite in town was great, very small and basic. While in camp we were interviewed by a local radio person who has a personal interest in bike touring. Just a few questions about who we are, what are trip has been like, where we are going, etc. Hopefully he will be able to find a way to paraphrase anything John said in French to make it sound like a real language.

Tomorrow will be a bit of a decision day at about the 35 kms mark as we will have to decide if we take a hotel or Bed 'n Breakfast at that point or go to the next campsite 60 kms further on.

Stay tuned for the big reveal!
