We got a pretty early start at 8:30.

Followed the canal system for most of the day. The bike path went right beside the canal and was flat the whole way. Stopped at the Guetin Aquaduct passing high over the l'Allier river for a snack and took some pictures of the beautiful flowers on the gates of the locks.

The only hiccup we had was going through Marseilles-les-Aubigny where we must have missed the signage for Eurovelo 6. We ended up going through a quiet residential area and then stopped at what appeared to be a main road, not typical of what the route has been. There happened to be a nice man on the corner who stopped his car when he saw that we were obviously lost. He kindly drove ahead of us and took us to where we needed to be. He said the signage is bad in town and alot of peole miss it. So, we didn't feel so bad.

On we went, ending our bike ride around 12:30 as we rode into Nevers on a beautiful tree lined bike path. Found the campsite right at the edge of the bridge into Nevers.

Because we stopped early today, we had time to explore the city of Nevers a little. Fairly large city of 43,000, it was originally a Gallic settlement and then became a Roman town. Narrow winding streets lead from the river to the large dominating cathedral. We spent some time there as 1, it was cool; 2, an organist was practicing on the huge pipes and lovely to listen to and 3, the architecture and windows inside was so interesting with a mix of Roman and Gothic styles and some modern stained glass windows.

We decided to stay an extra night here and have a rest day tomorrow😀
